Since it's beginnings in 2004, the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program has donated over 3.5 million dollars to local NPR stations!
That's thousands of donated vehicles, not counting the $23 we got for Tommy's
seven cars.
But . .. what kind of deranged NPR listener would actually donate a perfectly good car to support his or her local public radio station? Well, a listener like Peggy Johnson of Wolalancet, New Hampshire, would.
Car Talk spoke with Peggy about parting with her dearly beloved '96 Chevy Blazer, whether the IRS has since to toss her tuchus into prison - and if that smug smile on her face has anything to do with her recent donation. Check out Peggy's story.
