How to Protect Yourself and Your Donation |

Never leave the title blank | |
|
 |
Always fill out the name of the buyer/purchaser on the title. Put the name of our licensed wholesaler agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, on titles you send to us. |
|
|
If you leave the title blank, you cannot use a copy of it to prove that you made a donation. |
|
|
A blank title may result in potential legal liability for you. Leaving titles blank is illegal in all 50 states and a crime in some. |
|

Never give the title for your vehicle to the tow truck operator, insist that it be mailed | |

|
Mailing a title gives you protection under the Federal Mail Fraud laws. All titles in our program are mailed to our processing center in Maine. |

|
Giving a tow truck operator both your vehicle and the title to your vehicle opens the opportunity for theft. |
|
|
A vehicle without a title is difficult to sell but a stroke of a pen lets a driver claim your vehicle for his own if he has both the vehicle and title. |

Always remove the plates from your vehicle | |

|
Without plates, a buyer must properly register your donated vehicle before driving it. |
|
|
You are protected from liability by our program and it's $2 million insurance policy but it is a hassle to straighten out if someone uses plates you left on the vehicle. |

|
Notify your Department of Motor Vehicles that you no longer own a donated vehicle, if required in your state | |
|
|
Some states, like California, have special forms that you need to fill out, others require that you return the plates to the DMV, while some simply require you to indicate on the registration renewal form that you no longer own the vehicle. |
